New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo will officially announce his candidacy for Governor during the state Democratic Party convention later this month, according to a report from Bloomberg News.
The report sources 3 unnamed Cuomo supporters who said they talked to the Attorney General about his candidacy.
Despite not having declared his run yet, the latest Marist poll states Cuomo would defeat his would-be Republican rivals in mock elections.
According to the poll results, Cuomo would defeat former Congressman Rick Lazio, Suffolk County Executve Steve Levy, and Buffalo real estate developer Carl Paladino all by margins of at least 30 percent.
The New York State Democratic convention begins on May 25 at the Hilton Rye Town Hotel in Rye Brook and lasts through May 27.
