04/14/11 Rye Brook Insider Wants Village DPW Scrap Metal Thefts Probed

RYE BROOK ROUNDUP EXCLUSIVE:

It Looks Like It Is Not Just Port Chester That Has Corruption In Its Public Works Department

A Rye Brook employee who wishes to remain anonymous is calling for the Westchester County District Attorney to do a forensic audit into scrap metal thefts from the Village of Rye Brook.

The employee says Rye Brook administrator / clerk Christopher Bradbury refuses to investigate the possible criminal activity by village employees.

Rye Brook Roundup is considering filing Freedom of Information requests about missing pubicly owned scrap metal.

The Rye Brook employee wants Mayor Joan Feinstein to push for the hiring a forensic auditing firm to look into alleged scrap metal thefts.

The Rye Brook employee says years ago he approached a Rye Brook elected official about the metal thefts, but nothing was done.

Rye Brook has lost a considerable amount of revenue according to the employee.

It is time for the Rye Brook Police Chief Gregory Austin to start collecting detailed data on the scrap metal thefts. The Rye Brook employee says that there is most likely video taping at scrap buyer yards and at auto wrecking yards.

Why wont Rye Brook Police Investigators take the next step and start conducting confidential employee interviews?

The Rye Brook employee told Rye Brook roundup that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

If the Rye Brook Police Department will start interviewing people then they will get to the heart of the matter and protect the taxpayers of the village of Rye Brook.

The Rye Brook employee says that his attempts to report these scrap metal thefts has been "sabotaged" by acting Rye Brook Department of Public Works head Michal Nowak.

The employee says that Mr. Nowak has no wish for an audit of the Department Of Public Works to come out.

Are Rye Brook Administrators trying to bury a potential investigation by Rye Brook employees?

If the Rye Brook Police Department is unwilling or unable to investigate these thefts, then the Rye Brook village administrator should refer this matter to the Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore's office.

Rye Brook Roundup considers the village employee a reliable source.

If village employees were to gather some old junk snow plows and scrap and dispose of the metal, is there some kind of inventory or accounting system or accounting method for these type of activity?

Rye Brook Trustees Trustee Michael Brown, Toby Marrow, Jeffrey Rednick and Paul Rosenberg need to find out if scrap metal scrap cash is going in villge employees' pockets or being returned to the Rye Brook village treasury.

Rye Brook Administrator / clerk Christopher Bradbury is the only one with the authority to dispose of surplus property, after a vote of Rye Rye Brook's trustees have approved such a sale?

How much do you want to bet a Rye Brook police probe will find no criminal wrongdoing?

That is if a police investigation is ever conducted?

Hey, this is Rye Brook and the tax payers are rich and can afford it!

Rye Brook residents want that the Westchester County District Attorney launches a probe and an audit of DPW.

Will the Westchester County DA take the time to really understand what's going on in Rye Brook DPW Department?

The current administration in Rye Brook should want to see the Westchester County DA get involved.

And if village employees are stealing they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
