Blind Brook voters will have four candidates to choose from May 17 for two open seats on the Board of Education: Wendy Adler, a member of the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee and a candidate last year; Jeff Diamond, also a CBAC member; Peter Raider, a real estate broker; and Glen Schuster, the board's current vice president.
Trustee Lawrence Engle is not seeking another term.

Candidate for Blind Brook Board of Education
Preserving the high quality of education in Blind Brook should be a priority for everyone in our community. When you look around, however, you will see the financial pressures that are mounting on school districts in Westchester County and New York State. Blind Brook is not immune to these storms. We need to develop a sustainable economic model that will keep our schools great for many years to come. More specifically, we must work to eliminate waste, identify inefficiencies, establish priorities, and insure that more of our dollars go directly to programs that benefit students.
We also need to look at the bigger picture outside of Blind Brook. There is movement in Albany to free school districts from costly unfunded mandates that prevent us from using our tax dollars where they are most needed. As a member of our school board, I would work beyond the borders of our community. We need to be a vocal participant in the conversation in Albany.
I am committed to maintaining our educational excellence and meeting the financial challenges. I hope that you will take some time to read this blog. I have tried to explain the issues and present some ideas of my own. It’s time for a new voice in our district. I hope that you will consider voting for me on Tuesday, May 17th. Let’s plan for the future and keep our schools great.
