If you pay property taxes in Westchester County, you might wonder about a few things.
You might wonder, for example, why there is such a thing as the town of Greenburgh. Is it a real place, or a concept? How about this head scratcher: There are four different places by nearly the same name - Rye city, Rye town, Rye Neck and Rye Brook. What's that all about?
Why are there two police departments practically within walking distance from each other in the town and village of Mamaroneck?
Or, let's say you've just moved to Bronxville. That's what you think - it's really Yonkers. How did that happen? And how come, you ask, is the sales tax on a pair of shoes different in one town as opposed to a neighboring city?
You could go on and on. Wonders never cease, do they?......
